The city of Parksville on Vancouver Island was home to 12,514 residents in 2016, increasing 4.5 per cent over 2011. Qualicum Beach, French Creek, Coombs/Hilliers, Errington and Nanoose flank the oceanside community, known for it’s summer tourism industry. The city’s service and construction industries are kept busy by tourism dollars from Vancouver Islanders and Vancouverites alike. The Parkville/Qualicum region recorded the highest average home sale price ($606,874) of any other region or municipality tracked by the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board. Single-family home prices have increased nearly 20 per cent from January to January 2018, with per-unit sales increasing nearly 10 per cent year-over-year. The city’s rental vacancy sits at 0 per cent, but saw 211 housing starts in 2017. Benchmark apartment prices sit at $333,600.
