Winnipeg house lists at $3.9M

Winnipeg's housing market may be on the cusp of an all-time record. A 6,671-square-foot mansion in the affluent neighbourhood of Tuxedo has been listed for the second-highest selling price in the city's history at $3.9 million. The highest was a $7.

Winnipeg's housing market may be on the cusp of an all-time record.

A 6,671-square-foot mansion in the affluent neighbourhood of Tuxedo has been listed for the second-highest selling price in the city's history at $3.9 million. The highest was a $7.5-million property, a 13,200-square-foot house, also in Tuxedo, which hit the market last year but didn't sell.

If the $3.9 million home sells for anything close to list price, it will be the most expensive house sold in Winnipeg's history, besting the current record of slightly more than $3 million. Its features include a circular staircase leading from the main-floor master bedroom to the gym, a wine cellar, maid's quarters and an office with a secret door that is built into the wall.

"This home isn't for everybody. It's a very limited market with a very limited number of homes and buyers in that price range," said Arnie Moss, the Re/Max Professionals realtor in charge of selling the five-year-old house. "But there's a lot of money in Winnipeg."
