Surveys point to copper find at Flin Flon

Flin Flon, Manitoba, home to HudBay Minerals, may soon have another large copper mine if recent findings from cutting-edge exploration pan out.
Flin Flon, Manitoba, home to HudBay Minerals, may soon have another large copper mine if recent findings from cutting-edge exploration pan out.
Rick Mark, CEO of junior mining company VMS Ventures, is confident its use of VTEM technology – which measures the electro-magnetic properties of surface rocks from helicopter airborne surveys – has discovered a large copper ore body near the northern town of 5,500.
“ High readings indicate the potential for significant sulphide bodies and that’s a very good sign that base metal mineralization can be found below”, Mark said.
“We couldn’t have asked for anything more; the high grade Reed Copper deposit is 100 metres from the highway and it starts 20 metres from the surface,” he said.
VMS is currently drilling holes on its 100 per cent owned properties while HudBay Minerals continue to test for additional mineralization around the Reed Copper deposit and surrounding option areas between Flin Flon and Snow Lake.
