Edmonton will be getting its second CityMarket location by fall of next year.

ICE District Properties Joint Venture has secured Loblaws CityMarket as the new anchor tenant for the Block BG mixed-use development at 104 Avenue and 103 Street in downtown Edmonton.

The 22,000-square-foot facility will occupy the former Greyhound terminal site, ICE District revealed in a press release.

“We are proud to partner with Loblaw Companies Limited and we see this as a strong investment opportunity for downtown Edmonton, specifically in ICE District,” said Tim Shipton, senior vice president of communications and government relations for Katz Group.

Loblaws opened its first CityMarket location at Edmonton’s Brewery District in 2016.

“ICE District is a great location for a Loblaws CityMarket given the trendy, desirable area the District has become,” said Derrick Pittman, vice president of market franchise for Loblaws. “With a focus on local, quality, fresh food and great customer service, we are excited to bring our unique shopping experience to the residents of ICE District.

The store will feature an underground parking space, an indoor pedway system and escalator from the development’s Public Plaza area to the entryway.
