MUJI’s second Metro Vancouver location will be the company’s largest location outside of Asia.

The brand will occupy 14,507 square feet of retail space at 1125 Robson Street, previously tenanted by clothing retailers The Gap and Below the Belt. The location will be MUJI’s largest store outside of Asia and is twice the size of its 7,770-square-foot Metrotown location.

“This year marks a big step for MUJI Canada as we finally expanded to Western Canada and we will soon open our first flagship store,” says Toru Akita, president of MUJI Canada, in a press release. “The goal of the Robson Street store is to deepen our relationships with local communities while offering new services and products in a distinctive retail space.”

Unlike the Metrotown store, the Robson location will feature products and services new to the Canadian market, including a coffee counter, fragrance bar, and customizable stationery.

“By creating a relaxing environment with coffee, books and plants, we hope to help customers to make better choices toward creating their own pleasant lifestyle,” Akita adds.

MUJI expanded into Canada in 2014 with three Ontario locations, opening its first B.C. location earlier this year.

The Robson store opens December 2 at 10 a.m.
