Baskin-Robbins plans expansion

Baskin-Robbins has announced plans to push western expansion of its iconic confectionary franchise in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton, according to Bob Tipple, director and general manager for Baskin-Robbins Canada.

Tipple said the brand is looking for "entrepreneurs with a strong financial background and a passion for their local communities."

Baskin-Robbins is also launching its outlet redesign across new and existing locations in Canada. Already unveiled in Ontario, the new design will be launched at 10 to 15 locations in 2012.

Baskin-Robbins franchisees must prove a net worth of $300,000 with minimum liquid assets of $125,000, per location. A franchise costs between $147,000 to $527,000, with a franchise fee of $30,000 and royalties of 5.9 per cent.
