Brian Scudamore is adding another line on his resume.
A high school drop out, a Vancouver entrepreneur, the founder of the world's largest junk removal company and now one of the Dragons on Dragons' Den, Scudamore was announced as the newest member of the CBC show last week.
Scudamore founded 1-800-GOT-JUNK? as a teenager in 1989 with a pickup truck he'd bought for $700 (about $1,500 now). Over the subsequent 35 years he's turned that into a $300 million business, launched new companies and written two books.
Along the way he's collected a few awards including Fortune's Small Business’ Best Bosses Award, and 1-800-Got-Junk? (and its parent company O2E Brands, which Scudamore is CEO of) has been named one of "America's Most Loved Workplaces" by Newsweek in the past.
"CBC has asked me to join the team of Dragons on Dragon’s Den!! I couldn’t be more fired up!" writes Scudamore on a LinkedIn post.
While Scudamore joins the 19th season of the popular entrepreneurship and investment show on CBC, Robert Herjavec and Vincenzo Guzzo are leaving. Scudamore will be on the panel with Arlene Dickinson, Wes Hall, Manjit Minhas and Michele Romanow.
