Four new residential towers have been proposed for downtown Kelowna.

Vancouver’s Ledingham McAllister has submitted plans for towers that would climb 36, 34, 32 and 28 storeys into the Kelowna skyline on the corner of Ellis Street and Industrial Avenue. The project is called Waterscapes II, as it follows the original Waterscapes that was built in 2010 on Sunset Drive.

The land on which the four towers would rise is to the east of the original Waterscapes, which is 27 storeys tall, and north of the ONE Water Street project.

Ledingham McAllister has applied to rezone the land from medium density multiple housing to urban centre commercial. It was also applied for development permits and variance permits to significantly increase the allowable height at that location.

Another of the variances seeks to vary the amount of functional commercial, civic or cultural space, or ground-oriented residential use on the first floor from 75% required to 70% for building 2.

Five levels of above-ground parking would be at the base of each tower.
