Onni pushes to complete gigantic industrial park

Onni Group has received a greenlight from Pitt Meadows Council to construct six buildings to complete the second largest industrial business park in B.C.

The Golden Ears Business Park on Harris Road offers quick access to both Highway 1 and the Pitt Meadows Airport. "This business park will be an incredible asset for both Pitt Meadows and the region," said Pitt Meadows Mayor Don MacLean.

Onni plans to develop all the remaining buildings in the business park. The buildings will range in size from approximately 26,693 square feet to 124,273 square feet. A total of 120 bays are proposed ranging in size from 1,750 square feet to 4,900 square feet, plus mezzanines.

The buildings' tilt-up concrete panels will be oriented so that loading areas are not visible from the main roads. A decorative wall will screen any loading areas that would be directly visible from Harris Road. Parking will be primarily located around the perimeter of the buildings.

To maintain consistency with Council's preferred colour palette, the buildings will be painted in shades of beige and grey, and the architectural detailing will include glazing, reveal lines, steel frame canopies and sign bands. Mechanical equipment on the roof will be concealed using wood sunscreens.

"The city's support of this development permit means Onni can proceed as planned and create a state-of-the-art light industrial business park and attract business to Pitt Meadows," said Terry Becker, chair of the Pitt Meadows Economic Development Office, calling it a "winning" situation.
