The new mixed-use development The Independent under construction at Kingsway and East Broadway has secured local grocer Nesters Market as its anchor tenant.
The 21-storey, Rize-Alliance development in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood will include 258 residential units and eight ground-level retail units, slated for completion by the end of 2017. Nester Market has claimed the development’s largest, 30,00-square-foot retail space, located on the building’s second level.
Residential unit pre-sales began in February 2015 and are now sold out.
Colliers International is managing the project’s retail leasing, advertising available units between 1,152 to 15,105-square-feet. Colliers estimates the units will be ready for occupancy by Spring 2018.
Nester’s Market has three locations in Vancouver at 4475 Main St., 333 Abbott St. in the Woodwards building, and 990 Seymour St. in Yaletown.
