Central Alberta's business and population hub enjoyed a near-banner year in 2012. Building-permit values in the City of Red Deer topped $268 million last year and were up almost 58 per cent from 2011, which was up over 2010.

Building-permit values in the City of Red Deer topped $268 million last year and were up almost 58 per cent from 2011, which was up over 2010.

"We have come a long way and, with steady increases over the past four years, we're seeing permit values similar to 2008," said Joyce Boon, development and licensing supervisor.

"There is confidence in our local economy, and Red Deer continues to prove it is a development-friendly city."
