The 150-acre Greystone development in Cochrane, Alberta, is getting a lot bigger as Ocgrow Group of Companies forges ahead with the largest master-planned community at the site, which is just west of Calgary.

Ocgrow is building 350,000 square feet of commercial space in a development that includes a man-made lake and multi-family construction.

“Greystone is quickly being recognized as one of the premier new communities in Canada, and Ocgrow is proud to lead our new commercial and multi-family projects here,” Harish Consul, CEO of Ocgrow Group, told Western Investor.

Construction of the commercial and retail sectors will begin next year, with completion slated for the spring or summer of 2025.

“We’ve spent over five years on this. Currently land use is in place. We’re in construction.” Consul said.

Consul added the company is looking for a variety of retailers for the commercial development – from quick-service restaurants to big-box to local retailers as well as professional services such as medical and dental.

The commercial development will include 40 to 50 tenants. Space is being sold and leased.

Several multi-family projects are also being built, including 150 units of luxury condos/townhomes at Vertos, which has already commenced construction, and 130 new rental units coming in a project called Torez.

Existing surrounding amenities include the Bow River, the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre and the downtown of Cochrane, which has population of 34,724, up 22 per cent from five years ago.

“Cochrane is ideally positioned west of Calgary. People love having that outdoor, mountain lifestyle. You know, you’re 45 minutes from Banff. You’re literally 30 minutes from the Calgary airport,” Consul said.
