The Calgary Regional Partnership remains without the support of two of the key municipalities surrounding the big city: the Municipal District of Foothills and Rocky View County.

The Calgary Metropolitan Plan, which focuses on land use and water management, was developed in 2009 but has yet to be accepted by the provincial government.
