Industrial vacancy steady

While growth in the Edmonton region is evident in some of the latest numbers from the suburbs, the demand for industrial space remains steady. According to Colliers International, the Edmonton region's current industrial vacancy rate remains at 3.

 

While growth in the Edmonton region is evident in some of the latest numbers from the suburbs, the demand for industrial space remains steady. According to Colliers International, the Edmonton region's current industrial vacancy rate remains at 3.27 per cent, a very slight increase over the 3.2 per cent rate to end 2012.

Southeast Edmonton, the largest geographic sub-sector of the Edmonton industrial market, has a 1.98 per cent vacancy rate and lease rates varying from a low of $7.50 per square foot to $18.75 per square foot on an annual basis. Those rents have remained stable, according to Colliers, which also noted various land sales from $200,000 to $475,000 per acre, and building sales with a price range of $49.34 to $226.32 per square foot.
