U-Haul Canada’s annual survey of the top destination cities shows Alberta’s biggest city was still on top in 2015.

Calgary maintained the top spot in the rankings for the second consecutive year and third time in four years, receiving more one-way U-Haul truck rentals last year than any other destination.

The moving company’s annual Top 50 Destination Cites survey found thatToronto, Edmonton, Montreal and Ottawa completed the top five.

The U-Haul migration trends report was compiled from more than 1.7 million one-way U-Haul truck transactions that occurred during 2015.

Vancouver dropped from fifth pace in 2014 to seventh as the most popular destination for people moving within Canada, according to the U-Haul.  Edmonton slipped from No. 3 to the fourth spot in 2015. Toronto, which was the top destination for U-Haul trucks from 2002-11 and again in 2013, climbed two spots after slipping to fourth in 2014.

According to U-Haul, Vancouver had slightly more outgoing one-way U-Haul trucks than incoming for 2015, with 49 per cent arrival traffic and 51 per cent departure traffic. Calgary also saw more U-Haul moving trucks leaving the city than arriving last year, by a slight margin.

Vancouver’s No. 7 ranking in 2015 was behind London, Ontario but ahead of Hamilton, Victoria and Kitchener in the top 10.

Winnipeg was ranked No. 20, while Red Deer was in the No. 23 spot, Saskatoon came in at No. 27, Regina ranked as No. 29 and Langley No. 42 among other western cities in the top 50 destinations.
