Calgary listings of $1 million homes jumps 92%

Sotheby’s International Realty Canada found that sales of million-dollar-or-more homes in Calgary shot up 19 per cent in the first half of this year, compared to the first six months of 2011. In all, 908 Calgary homes were listed on MLS for $1 million or more.
In Vancouver, listings of such expensive homes rose 11 per cent in the first half of this year, but sales fell 35 per cent. There are now an estimated 3,900 homes in Vancouver listed for sale at $1 million or more.
Both Montreal and Toronto also experienced a spike in listings of homes priced over the $1 million mark in the first half of 2012, compared to a year earlier, according to the Sotheby’s survey.
