An upcoming open house will give residents a chance to ask questions and provide feedback about a City of Calgary proposal to annex over 400 acres from Foothills County.

The open house will be held on Thursday, April 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the DeWinton Community Hall, 114 Macleod Trail East. Presentations will be made at 5 and 7 p.m.

It comes as the City proposes the annexation of approximately 415 acres of land on the west side of Calgary's southern border with the County.

Those unable to attend the open house can submit feedback on the proposal online until May 11 at engage.calgary.ca/foothills-land-annexation

The proposed annexation would need to be approved by Foothills County, the City of Calgary and the Province before the lands could be incorporated into Calgary.

Foothills County landowners in or near the proposed annexation area were notified of the project in June 2022.

The area was previously identified in a 2017 Foothills County – City of Calgary Intermunicipal Development Plan as a long-term growth area for the city.
