Vancouver-based Anthem Properties has acquired four industrial properties in Calgary, expanding beyond its strong retail and residential presence.

Anthem has acquired three properties totaling 176,000 square feet across 8.25 acres of land, located at 4155 75th Ave., 4905 77th Ave. and 635 46th Ave. The buildings are 100 per cent leased and were previously owned by Toronto’s CanFirst Capital Management

Anthem paid $21.35 million for the properties, according to RENX

The fourth property is 77,00 square feet under firm and binding contract, expected to close this summer.

“Anthem is quite pleased to announce the completion of this transaction as it serves to accomplish a number of strategic objectives for our organization,” says Jordan Carlson, Anthem’s investment director. “It marks a re-entry into industrial real estate as an asset class for us as Calgary’s economy continues to show strong signs of recovery.”

Anthem already owns nearly ten industrial properties across B.C. and Alberta, according to the company’s website, compared to close to 60 retail properties and 30 multi-family rental buildings. Anthem manages 4.2 million square feet of commercial space overall.
